What is a Buggy?
Our buggy is a 4×4 open-sided 6-seater vehicle — think of it as a cross between a golf cart and an off-road SUV. It’s automatic transmission, easy to drive, and built for Nassau’s roads. The open-sided design means you get fresh air and unobstructed views the whole time.
It seats up to 6 people, making it perfect for families, couples, or small groups travelling together.
Do I Need a Special License to Drive a Buggy in Nassau?
No special license is required. A standard valid driver’s license is all you need. However, drivers must be between 25 and 69 years of age in accordance with our insurance policy.
How Long Can I Rent the Buggy?
We offer three rental options to suit your plans:
- 6-Hour Rental — $350
- 8-Hour Rental — $400
- 24-Hour Rental — $450

Is It Safe to Drive in Nassau?
Yes. Nassau drives on the left side of the road (like the UK), so if you’re coming from the US or Canada, keep that in mind. Roads are well-maintained and traffic is generally light outside of the downtown area.

Where Do I Pick Up the Buggy?
Our main location is at Sands Road off East Street, Nassau.
For cruise passengers, free pickup is included — look for the Bowcar window in the Rental Center near the Junkanoo Museum at the cruise port. We’ll shuttle you to our location.
Do I Need to Book in Advance?
Yes — we strongly recommend it. Buggies are popular, especially during cruise season, and availability cannot be guaranteed for walk-ins. Book online at bowcarbahamas.com or call 1-800-558-1364.
What About a Damage Deposit?
A damage deposit is required at check-in. It can be left on a Mastercard or Visa as an authorization only (not a charge), or in cash. If left on a card it is voided when the buggy is returned safely. If left in cash it is returned at the end of your rental.
